A Victorian Christmas Carol

A Victorian Christmas Carol

“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.”

Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

I was delighted to attend the opening night of A Victorian Christmas Carol presented by Watershed Public Theatre at Hay Long Hall in Mount Pleasant last night.

The intimate setting was perfect for the opening performance. While I know this story from many movies, tv shows and the book itself, this was the first chance I’ve had to see it performed live. I can tell you that I was not disappointed in the least! The actors did an amazing job at every turn. I found myself laughing, drawn into song and crying.

“This storyteller-style adaptation written by Beverly Mitchell  includes musical performances of favorite Victorian carols.”

The play’s innovative style added a unique layer to the story that I enjoyed immensely. I tend to be a purist when it comes to the classics, so I wasn’t sure if this performance would measure up to my standards. I was pleased to discover, however, that the play was beautifully executed and even exceeded my expectations.

There are three more shows this weekend, so if you are looking for something that brings holiday cheer for the whole family, be sure to get your tickets at www.watershedtheatre.org.

*Growing Up Maury received free press passes to attend this performance; however, the thoughts and views expressed are our own.
